The MSC is responsible for issuing marine weather alerts for coastal and offshore waters, as well as the St. Lawrence Seaway, and major inland waters such as the Great Lakes. The constant stream of data coming from both automated and manned coastal observation stations, as well as ships and weather buoys, is supplemented by satellite imagery, weather radar and a full set of numerical weather products adapted for marine operations.
